Council Saves £150 million with PowerON

Customer Need

City of Wolverhampton Council were looking for a partner to help them redesign their core IT service functions, including implementation and training. By utilising our FastTrack services across multiple work streams PowerON created a single platform with successful user adoption.

The Challenge

City of Wolverhampton Council were keen to automate more IT tools, enable the pro-active monitoring of hardware, and streamline software distribution.  With a Microsoft-centric system already in place, the council invested in Microsoft System Center, but required help to get the most out of the suite of systems management products including Service Desk, Server Event monitoring, automation of workloads, and a desktop management tool.

Solution

After deciding Microsoft System Center suite would be a good fit for the council, Wolverhampton were looking to deliver the solution as quickly, accurately and reliably as possible. PowerON delivered a System Center Operations Manager FastTrack, Service Manager and Configuration Manager FastTrack as a unified platform on its own Cloud Management Appliance (CMA). As a result, PowerON designed, deployed and fully trained staff to ensure ease of adoption.

The City of Wolverhampton Council made a strategic decision to use the Microsoft System Centre suite in order to manage its ICT estate and, following significant investigations, it made the decision that purchasing a purpose built appliance was the most expedient and cost effective solution. PowerON were selected as the partner of choice and since making this decision City of Wolverhampton Council has enjoyed a successful and enjoyable partnership, implementing System Center Configuration Manager, System Center Operations Manager and System Center Service Manager as well as entering into the Azure space. Throughout all of these initiatives we have worked closely with PowerON who have provided expert advice, guidance and knowledge transfer, as well as timely training and documentation to allow us to meet tight deadlines and deliver quality solutions. PowerON has also proved to have a very flexible approach adjusting resources, timescales and approaches in order to satisfy City of Wolverhampton Council’s requirements, all of which has resulted in an extremely rewarding and beneficial relationship.
